Most of the time my reviews focus on a particularly effective or new strain at Berkeley Patients Care Collective. This week we look at a combination of PCC classic concentrates ending in the culmination of a new favorite: Creme Brulee. Like the delicious and sugary dessert, our version is crisp on the top with a soft waxy bottom. While it may look good enough to eat, it is in fact a blending of our Shatter and Delta 9, two extremely potent oils that are vaporized or “dabbed” more often than not. Each oil alone is typically potent enough for most patients, I can only imagine how pronounced the effect will be when combined.
Fortunately, I will find out soon, as today I get a chance to dab this Creme Brulee. One of the very first things I notice may seem a bit obvious, but is important nonetheless: the container it comes in. As a regular purveyor of all things hash and oil, I tend to prefer they be packaged in a glass container, something I can dig into without fear, and really scrape the bottom. The jar not only provides easier access, it certainly seems to retain smell better upon opening. While less definitive and complex than actual flowers, the smell of this oil combination still provides a reference point for it’s flavor notes: an overarching sour stench interspersed with hints of citrus and an underlying presence of sweetness. Although this smell is attributed to the type of Delta 9 and Shatter used, I’m sure other mixes will be just as uniquely fragrant.
After my nose and eyes have had their fill, I think it’s about time I give it a try. As I noted, the container makes a huge difference for me as far as ease of use allowing me to mash my metal dabbing tool into the Creme Brulee and work around an appropriately sized piece for me to medicate with. This means none of the medication is lost during the process, a frustration I have had to deal with in the past. The dab I set up for myself seems to be an appropriately even combo of Shatter and Delta 9, and on the inhale, the flavor backs it up hitting just about every part of the spectrum. Unfortunately, on the exhale, some intricacies of the flavor are lost as the medicine has a strong effect immediately. This is great for pain relief.
One of the most advantageous elements of the Creme Brulee is it’s versatility. With the multitude of flavor combinations and effects that a two-strain, two-oil product can offer, patients may begin to see the Creme Brulee as an easy way to cover all their bases instead of needing to sample many. I found the oils both to be effective and tasty, reassured by the complete vaporization from my nail and the lack of residue left behind. In the end, I feel like the Creme Brulee will offer much of the same flexibility and intensity that our house-made Kushmill’s Triple Double Truffle does.
