Highlighted in today’s review will be none other than our very own ‘shatter’ provider “2 Kings”. These folks have been preparing and providing us with top shelf shatter now for a few months, with remarkable consistency in both quality and potency. From ‘Girl Scout Cookies’ to ‘Double Dream’ or ‘Mango Kush,’ all were accurate representations of their particular strains, provided the relief expected, and were comprised of the expected terpene profile. Consistent effect and potency is of the utmost importance to patients, many of whom control their own medication schedule and need to know how it will effect them. Fortunately, so far the only variation to be found from 2 Kings is in stability [how sappy or brittle it is] and terpene compilation, both of which are heavily strain dependent.
For today’s review I was presented with a sample of their Double Dream, to put it to the test and run it through my rig. Upon first look, I appreciate the slick packing and note the parchment paper preparation- an absolute must when dealing with shatter. There is nothing worse than losing half your product to a container, or having to resort to chipping it off a glass jar. Once I get to delve into it, I realize quickly that this is of top notch quality. It is brittle to the touch, and it dances around the parchment paper instead of simply sticking in a blob, while still managing to emanate a sweet blueberry scent: a guarantor of its Blue Dream origin. Since it does break up so easily and is less sticky, it seems easier just to dunk it instead of using an actual dabber. I find my dome-less nail to be invaluable in these situations. First taste is sweet and perfumed, with distinctly floral undertones that linger on the palate long after exhale. I find the effects immediate and exceeding my expectations: instant mental uplift and clarity, visual stimulation as well as a noticeable release in ocular pressure and easing of the muscles. As far as I am concerned this is a near ideal Sativa dominant hybrid, providing energy and positivity for daytime activities while still pain relieving. The effects lasted a good 2-3 hours, allowing me to get deep into my day before having to medicate again. Overall I’d say this was a stellar example of high grade oil, something I think it’s safe to say we will see more of coming from 2 Kings.
