“Prop 19 would make California the first state in the nation to move beyond just permitting some access to medical marijuana to full-scale and potentially profitable legalization. Other obvious benefits, like a decline in organized crime and moving billions of dollars from the underground economy to the public economy, would naturally follow…
However, it is not known to what extent the federal government would enforce prohibitions as no other state permits commercial marijuana related activities for non-medical purposes.”

The Jack Herer California Cannabis Hemp and Health Initiative - An alternative to Prop 19

“It definitely won’t be on the ballot this November but it’s good to know exactly what the man, widely credited for the launch modern hemp movement had in mind instead of Prop. 19 2010. The California Cannabis Hemp and Health Initiative is set to file again for 2012. They will begin the signature drive November 2011 through April 2012 and they will need to collect 700,000 signatures from registered California voters within the 150 days.”

Expanding Berkeley’s Medical Cannabis Ordinance - Taxation and Regulation

“The decisions made, including the proposed 2.5% increase in business tax for dispensaries and the number of dispensing facilities increasing from three to four total, will be up for public vote in November..Other amendments include the addition of six new, non-dispensing facilities which could include but are not limited to; cultivation and manufacturing and would not include public visits. Whether we like it or not, things are changing for Berkeley and other cities around the State.”
