Staff Strain Report - Girl Scout Cookies

2016-11-10T15:46:23-07:00December 29th, 2011|

Cannabis is no different in falling prey to fads and what is 'trendy'. In the past, we have seen crazes over a variety of strains: from OG Kush, to Haze, to just about anything with the color purple. Most of the time it's simply the appearance of something new to the cannabis scene: an effect that is more pronounced, a smell or taste that has never before been explored, or a look that seems to not belong on cannabis at all. It seems obvious then, when someone decided to breed not only OG Kush and Granddaddy Purple but Durban Poison as well, the result would be a bud almost universally loved: Girl Scout Cookies or G.S.C.

Staff Strain Report - CBD Challenge

2016-11-10T15:46:24-07:00November 22nd, 2011|

Despite the recent rise in popularity of CBD rich strains, many patients still remain unaware of their benefits. At Berkeley Patients Care Collective, we consider it of the utmost importance to educate ourselves and our patients to the best of our abilities in order to better understand what cannabis can do for us. For this reason, this weeks review will take a good hard look at two CBD rich strains: 'Harlequin' and 'Terpene Queen'.

The Promising Future of Hash Oil

2016-11-10T15:46:24-07:00November 3rd, 2011|

Many patients use cannabis to improve their quality of life. When used correctly cannabis provides pain relief, fights depression, and improves blood circulation among numerous other things. Millions of people worldwide will testify to the fact that cannabis is a powerful medicine that helps sick people lead more productive lives. But what if it was more than that? Some very credible studies have shown that cannabis may be more than just a symptom reliever. Lately the conversation has shifted to a whole new use of cannabis, and there are many who believe concentrated marijuana can actually cure certain diseases.

Staff Strain Report - Lambsbread

2016-11-10T15:46:25-07:00September 2nd, 2011|

Medical Marijuana has long had to sift through the stuff of legend, only to find a small kernel of truth. From a mysterious lineage to an exotic taste, much of what is known is passed down, and not always correctly. Fortunately, that information is not always necessary in order to objectively review something. My current review is no different, purportedly representing the near-legendary pure Sativa strain that Bob Marley favored most: Lambsbread.

Staff Strain Report - “Kushmills” Triple Double Truffle

2016-11-10T15:46:26-07:00July 12th, 2011|

Because of their potency they are an ideal addition for any patient struggling with tolerance issues. For this week’s review we’ve decided to flip things around and take a look at a prime example of a concentrate that provides near guaranteed relief: our PCC exclusive, "Kushmills" Triple Double Truffle.

Staff Strain Report - Granddaddy Purple

2016-11-10T15:46:26-07:00June 23rd, 2011|

The depth and complexity of something should not be simplified to its outside appearance. In the world of cannabis, however, the looks of a strain will give you invaluable insight into what its potential effects may be. This week’s review is particularly eye catching with its deep purple countenance: Granddaddy Purple.

Staff Strain Report - Cherry AK

2016-11-10T15:46:26-07:00June 9th, 2011|

Cherry AK’s appearance is almost exactly what you would expect from it’s lineage: a cross of Mexican, Thai, Colombian, and Afghani landrace strains. The buds are thinner, emphasizing its sativa nature, but they are capped by distinctly kush-like forms. Upon closer inspection you can also see the calyxes have filled in, nicely eliminating the fluffiness that can sometimes be associated with sativa-dominant crosses.
